Abdominal Injuries

In this chapter we briefly discuss injuries to the organs that make up the digestive system and other organs in the abdominal cavity. Specifically we discuss the esophagus, pancreas, liver, spleen, gallbladder and bile ducts, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, rectum, anal canal and anus, adrenal glands and kidneys. The kidneys lie within the abdomen, the other organs of the urinary system (ureter, urinary bladder and urethra) lie within the pelvic region, and you should refer to the chapter dealing with the pelvis for further information (Chapter 6).
