Introduction

The face is divided into various areas each having separate functions. These are often described as the nasal area, lower jaw, middle third of face and upper third of face.

There are fourteen facial bones, they are: 2 maxillae, 2 palatine, 2 zygomatic (malar), 2 lacrimal, 2 nasal, 2 inferior nasal conchae, 1 vomer and 1 mandible.
